Dynasties

Veritas Et Fortitudo introduces a dynastic system that tracks multiple potential heirs in the immediate royal family as well as cadet branches in other nations. The current royal family can be seen by hovering over the Display Royal Family decision.

Succession is determined by your nation's historic traditions but can occasionally be changed, the following types are possible:

  • Male-Preference Primogeniture: The oldest son inherits; all of a rulers sons have precedence over his daughters, but his daughters have precedence over his brothers. This is the most common form of succession.
  • Absolute Primogeniture: The eldest child inherits; sons and daughters are treated equally and inherit by age preceding any of the ruler's brothers or sisters.
  • Salic Law: A form of primogeniture where women can never inherit.
  • Semi-Salic: A form of primogeniture where women may inherit only when there are no male members of the family line; a ruler's brothers, nephews, uncles, and cousins have precedence over his daughters.
  • Agnatic Succession: The oldest male member of the family inherits; all of a rulers brothers inherit before his sons and then all of his sons inherit in turn before any of his grandsons.

Victories are tracked when your ruler or heir function as a military leader; they represent the sieges or battles won minus the battles lost which means it can be a negative number. These are only the battles and sieges in which that leader directly participated. They can earn the following bonuses or penalties:
